Vincent Renaut ’11 was a highly-touted high school wrestler and two-time New England Champion who ranked as high as sixth in the country prior to arriving at Kings Point and went on to become the Mariners’ first ever NCAA Individual National Champion after he won the 165-lb. weight class in 2010. He entered the national event as an unseeded participant and finished as the Most Outstanding Wrestler among all Division III wrestlers who qualified for nationals, overcoming three top-10 ranked opponents to claim the title. Throughout his career, Renaut was also a three-time Centennial Conference Champion, as well as a three-time place-winner at the All-Academy Championship, becoming the first ever Division III wrestler to win their bracket at All-Academies in 2009, defeating opponents from five Division I programs, including Army, Navy and Air Force, and two other Division III teams, including rival Coast Guard. Renaut finished his career with a gritty performance as a senior, coming back from an early injury to place seventh in the nation at the 2011 NCAA National Championships and claim All-American honors for the second-consecutive season.
