Jay Renehan joins the Kings Point Athletic Hall of Fame as oneof the Mariners’ most respected and successfulintercollegiate sailors in the program’s accomplishedhistory.  A four-year letterwinner with the Blue and Graysailing program, Renehan helped the Kings Point contingent to twoICYRA Coed Dinghy National Championship Titles, the Academy’sonly ICYRA Team Racing National Championship Title, and two ICYRACoed Dinghy National Championship Runner-up Trophies during hisfour seasons on the waters of Long Island Sound.  He was namedthe captain of the squad for both the 1984 and 1985 campaigns andgraduated with the distinction of being the only college sailor tohave been awarded All-American status as a Crew (1983), HonorableMention Skipper (1984), Skipper (1985) and the College Sailor ofthe Year (1985).

After winning his division in nine of the 13 intersectionalregattas during his senior year, he earned the coveted Everett B.Morris Trophy as the College Sailor of the Year.  However,Renehan’s success was not just limited to the waters at theAcademy.  A father of three, he has been able to continue hiscompetitive sailing career as a world-class athlete while beingemployed by Boeing as a Design Engineer.  A five-time memberof the US National Sailing Team, he finished second at the OlympicTrials in the 470 Class in 1988 and the 1999 Olympic Trials at the49er Class.  In addition Renehan was the US National Championat the 49er Class in 1998 and has been a three-time winner of TasarNorth American, and won the Tasar World Championships in 1992.
