James “Jim” Cronin ’79 was a four-year starter for the Kings Point basketball team. The two-time Team MVP, who also served as a team captain his senior season, was a 1,000-point scorer, finishing his career with a total of 1,096 points. Cronin led the Mariners to the program’s first postseason appearance when they qualified for the ECAC Tournament in 1977-78. He also led the team in assists, steals and blocked shots in his last three seasons. At the time of his graduation, Cronin held all three assist records (game, season and career) for the Academy. At the time of his induction, he still holds the Academy’s single-game record with 15 assists, which he accomplished twice during the 1978-79 season.
