In 1967, Les Kempf ’67 won the Admiral Giles C. Stedman Trophy Winner and became the second Kings Pointer, and first wrestler, to ever be named a NCAA All-American (123 pounds). Kempf twice captured both the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Tournament Championship and the C.W. Post College Christmas Championship. He dominated the Metropolitan Wrestling Tournament and won three times, claiming three individual titles, a third-place finish and an Outstanding Wrestler Tournament Award. In 1964-65, he took silver at the Junior AAU Metropolitan Championships. Kempf went undefeated in dual competition during the 1966-67 season, leading Merchant Marine to a 10-1 overall record.
