Hal Yee ’56, the first American of Chinese descent to play basketball for any U.S. service academy, was a four-year starter on the hardwood for the Mariners from 1952-56. Yee was the team’s leading scorer as a freshman point guard in 1952-53 and then helped lead Kings Point to its first winning season in Academy history in 1953-54, when the Mariners went 10-6. He earned All-Long Island Basketball honors after his sophomore campaign. Yee went on to help the Mariners to another double-digit win season in 1954-55 (10-10) before finishing his career as a team captain during his First Class year.
