Michael Connors was an extraordinary oarsman and captain of thecrew team.  While representing the Academy, he received teamMVP and Most Valuable Oarsman honors from 1978-81.  At the DadVail National Championships, he and his teammates placed third inthe Freshman 8 in 1978 and second in Varsity 4 in 1981. Earning a spot to compete in the 1981 IRA Division-I NationalChampionships, the team had a fourth –place finish in theVarsity 4.  Connors’ rowing also included competitionswith the NYAC at the U.S. National Championships, where he medaledseven times (four gold, three bronze) from 1980-1981.

After graduation, he competed for the NYAC and brought home twoadditional gold medals.  Connors went on to to compete andfinish fourth at the Pan Am Games Trials.  He later returnedto Kings Point and coached the crew team from 1983-1985. Connors continues to row competitively, and to date, has earnedover 20 combined gold medals at the U.S. Master’s National Championships and Master’s WorldChampionships.
