Lawrence M. Hadley ’84 was a four-year letterwinner and team co-captain for both cross country and track and field. While running cross country in his senior season, Hadley established Academy course records at Van Cortlandt Park, Sunken Meadow and Franklin Park, all of which still stand to this day (2009). He was named an All-East Cross Country Runner at the Inter- collegiate Association of Amateur Athletes in America in Boston’s Franklin Park. In track and field, Hadley still holds the Academy records for the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. In his senior season, he finished 11th in the 10,000 meters at the Penn Relays and was named an All-American at the NCAA Division III Track & Field National Championships in the 5,000 meters. Hadley was also named an ECAC Merit Medal Scholar Athlete and voted the Academy’s 1984 Stedman Trophy winner.
