KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 31, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's and women's swimming & diving teams honored their nine graduating seniors with a very special Senior Day ceremony before the annual USMMA Memorial Invitational on Saturday at the Sue Petersen Lubow Pool. No team scores were kept at the event, which featured swimmers and divers from Kings Point, SUNY Cortland, SUNY Maritime, The College of New Jersey and Division II Kutztown University.

The pre-meet ceremony paid tribute to the fantastic careers of nine Mariners –
Emma Frank (Highland, Md.),
Matthew Wachendorfer (Greensboro, N.C.),
Diego Corredor (Fort Myers, Fla.),
Delaney Cantlon (Burke, Va.),
Ryan Chmielenski (Bristow, Va.),
Giana Leoni (Arvada, Colo.),
Teague Mayer (Boulder, Colo.),
Jessica Felske (East Troy, Wis.) and
Thomas Cable (Litchfield Park, Ariz.).

Meet Links
In the pool, the Mariners produced a total of seven first-place finishes throughout the day. Sophomore
Max Fedorenko (Chicago, Ill.) was a part of four of them as, individually, he won the 50 freestyle (21.83) and the 100 free (46.65), while also anchoring both the 200 medley relay that touched first to start the day (1:34.77) and the 400 free relay that closed out the meet with a win (3:32.41).

Mayer, junior
Luke Dankert (Grand Island, Neb.) and freshman
Keanne Hernandez (Deer Park, N.Y.) were all a part of two victories each. Mayer earned the triumph in the 100 backstroke (59.13) and by leading off that 400 free relay team, while Dankert was the second leg of the 200 medley relay and also touched first in the 100 breaststroke (59.13) and Hernandez was on both relay teams that won.

Junior
Ryan Lester (Deer Park, N.Y.) picked up an individual victory in the 200 free (1:46.64). Sophomore
Ryan McOsker (Fredericksburg, Va.) led off the 200 medley relay team with Hernandez, Dankert and Fedorenko and sophomore
John Frank (Highland, Md.) was the second leg of the 400 free relay that also included Mayer, Hernandez and Fedorenko.

In diving action, freshman
Carter Kov (Goodyear, Ariz.) placed second in the one-meter event (254.55), while Cable came in second place in the three-meter board (253.00).

On the women's side, junior
Isabel Lunsford (Burnet, Texas) picked up the only first-place finishes for the Mariners, as she won both the 100 free (55.21) and the 200 free (2:01.66). Freshman
Bryony Shipe (Ford City, Pa.) helped USMMA go 1-2 in the 200 free when she touched second in 2:03.72.

Kaitlyn Adams (King George, Va.), sophomore
Molly O'Brien (Social Circle, Ga.), junior
Catherine Kennedy (Columbus, Ga.) and Lunsford came in third place with a time of 1:58.60.

The "Mariner of the Meet" honors, awarded based on a team vote to an individual for their performance and contribution to the team, went to Lester for the men, Leoni for the women and junior
Daniel Rush (Toms River, N.J.) for the divers.
