NEW YORK (Jan. 17, 2025) – On Friday, the USMMA women's track & field team took part in the Ramapo Season Opener at the Armory in Manhattan. Nearly all of the Mariners' performances on the day were personal bests.

Senior
Katherine Kerchner (Reading, Pa.) produced the Mariners' best result at the meet, as she came in second place (first among DIII runners) in the 5000m with a time of 19:45.15, which was a PR.

Freshmen
Lily Cary (Plymouth, Minn.) and
Kathryn Wahab (Waxhaw, N.C.) both recorded two PRs apiece. Cary ran a 11.91 in the prelims of the 60m hurdles and also crossed the finish line of the 200m dash in 32.46 and Wahab ran a 9.72 in the 60m dash prelims and a 32.81 in the 200m.

Fellow plebe
Jayme Santasiero (Houston, Texas) was the Mariners' top finisher in the 200m with a personal-best time of 28.31. She was also the fastest in the 60m dash (8.51).

Freshman
Jasmine Predum (Bakersfield, Calif.) rounded out the Merchant Marine PRs by clearing a height of 2.40m (7' 10.5") in the pole vault.

Up next, the Mariners will take part in the Fastrack National Invite back at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Center in Staten Island on Friday, Feb. 7. Action is set to get underway at 12-noon.
