Women’s Track & Field Captures Program’s First-Ever Skyline Championship

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (April 27, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's track & field team claimed the program's first-ever Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday at Farmingdale State. Kings Point claimed their second conference title overall since winning the Public Athletic Conference title in 1990.
 
Meet Links The Mariners finished with 217 points, outmuscling defending Conference Champion Farmingdale State, who came in second with 192 points, while Mount St. Mary finished third with 83 points.
 
The Blue and Gray took two major awards, with senior Katherine Kerchner (Reading, Pa.) earning Skyline Runner of the Year and Morgan Doll (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) named Rookie of the Year. Six Mariners also finished first in their respective events.
 
Kerchner had herself a day winning all four events she competed in, registering personal bests in the 800m and 1500m with times of 2:41.40 and 5:51.78. She also claimed the top spot in the 5000m and the 3000m steeplechase in 22:33.05 and 14:16.15.
 
Doll grabbed three first-place finishes, two of them in the 100 and 400 hurdles with times of 17.19 and 1:13.53, which were also personal bests. She also joined sophomores Faith Sammons (Aubrey, Texas) and Jade Winters (Jackson, Ohio), and fellow plebe Jayme Santasiero (Houston, Texas) with a top finish in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:24.60.
 
Santasiero also finished first in the 200m with a new personal best of 27.27.
 
Sammons recorded a first-place finish in the long jump with a career-best leap of 4.89 (16' 0.5"), while freshman Jasmine Predum (Bakersfield, Calif.) claimed first place in the pole vault with a throw of 2.45m (8' 0.5"). Plebe Karley Rush (Trinity, Fla.) triumphed in first place in the javelin, uncorking a personal best toss of 25.80m (84' 8").
