BALTIMORE (Feb. 7, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team picked up a pair of Centennial Conference victories on Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Duals, hosted by Johns Hopkins University at Goldfarb Gymnasium. The Mariners opened the day with a convincing 31-13 win over Muhlenberg before closing the event with a 29-12 victory against the host Blue Jays.

With the two wins, USMMA improved to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in Centennial Conference competition.

Three Mariners won both of their bouts on the day. SeniorÂ
Wesley Wydick (Utica, Ohio)Â recorded a pin in the opener and followed it up with a technical fall against Johns Hopkins, while freshmanÂ
Aiden Krass (Gonzales, La.)Â earned a decision against Muhlenberg and a first-period fall versus the Blue Jays and juniorÂ
Colin Dragon (Richmond Hill, Ga.) had a pin against the Mules and a forfeit win vs. Hopkins.  Â

Against the Mules, USMMA fell behind early after a forfeit at 125, but responded by rattling off four-straight wins. Wydick evened the score with a pin at 133 and Dragon followed at 141 with a second-period fall to continue the Mariners' momentum. Krass then edged his opponent, 5-4, at 149, and sophomoreÂ
Logan Weaver (Suwanee, Ga.)Â added an 8-4 decision at 157 to put Merchant Marine ahead 18-6.

Following a Muhlenberg decision at 165, freshmanÂ
Andrew Huesgen (Shillington, Pa.) swung the match further in USMMA's favor with a 16-1 technical fall at 174. Although the Mules earned a major decision at 184, the Mariners put the dual away with wins at the final two weights, as juniorÂ
Tyler Withers (Gettysburg, Pa.)Â delivered a 17-2 tech fall at 197 and freshmanÂ
Jonathan Harms (Niantic, Conn.)Â closed the match with a 7-0 decision at heavyweight.

In the second dual against Johns Hopkins, the Mariners jumped out to a commanding a 20-0 lead through the first five bouts. Wydick opened the scoring with a 15-0 technical fall at 133, followed by a forfeit win from Dragon at 141. Krass kept the bonus points coming with a first-period pin at 149, and junior
Matthew Trinidad (Mesa, Ariz.) added an 11-6 decision at 157.

Johns Hopkins earned points with a major decision at 165, but junior
Matthew Ferrucci (Killingworth, Conn.) responded for USMMA with a tight 5-4 decision at 174. After the Blue Jays picked up another win at 184, junior
Grant Mathias (Rockwood, Pa.) clinched the dual for the Mariners with a second-period fall at 197 before Johns Hopkins closed the scoring with a major decision at heavyweight.

USMMA also picked up two exhibition victories on the day, as freshman
Miles Price (Seattle, Wash.) recorded a fall against Muhlenberg and later added a technical fall against Johns Hopkins at 165.

With the two victories, the Mariners continued their strong conference campaign and will look to build on the momentum in their next competition.
