Long Jump Win By Ford Headlines 11 Top-10 Finishes, 10 PRs For Mariners At West Point Tune-Up

WEST POINT, N.Y. (Feb. 21, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track & field team put forth their strongest effort of the season on Saturday morning at the West Point Tune-Up at Gillis Field House. The Mariners registered 11 top-10 finishes and 10 personal bests on the day.

Freshman Scott Ford (Baltimore, Md.) led the way for the Blue and Gray at the event, taking first place in the men's long jump with a winning leap of 6.36m (20' 10.5") and finishing second in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 12.85m (42' 2"). Ford also PR'ed in the men's 60 meters and 200 meters with times of 7.30 and 23.29.

Freshman Gage Holub (Mount Vernon, Iowa) continued his strong week with a second-place finish in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.64. Sophomore Holden Collier (Mount Vernon, Wash.) finished eighth in the men's 400 meters with a time of 53.83 and added another PR in the 60 meters, crossing the finish line in 7.50.

Senior Silas Glynn (Folsom, Calif.) finished fourth in the men's 1,000 meters with a personal-best time of 2:40.99. Kings Point continued their momentum in the men's mile, where freshman Cooper Johnson (Honolulu, Hawaii) recorded a seventh-place finish with a personal-best time of 4:37.74.

USMMA also added multiple top-10 finishes in the men's 800 meters, as senior Elijah Ramthun (Bozrah, Conn.) finished eighth in 2:04.64, and freshman Arjun Suresh (Plainsboro, N.J.) followed in ninth with a time of 2:06.61. Johnson also added a second PR in the event, clocking in at 2:11.03.

Sophomore Ethan Alliot (Sheridan, Wyo.) finished eighth with a personal-best time of 10:03.90, and freshman Chase Pavlow (Holland, Pa.) followed in ninth with a PR of 10:06.16 in the men's 3,000 meters. In the men's 5,000 meters, freshman Enois Maceira (Monroe Township, N.J.) delivered a standout performance with a third-place finish and personal-best time of 16:59.50. Senior Alex Virostek (Silver Lake, Ohio) added another top-10 result in fifth place with a time of 18:38.02.

USMMA added two more top-10 finishes in the men's shot put, as Sophomore Garrett Rees (Rising Sun, Md.) placed fifth with a mark of 12.00 meters (39' 4.5") in the men's shot put while senior Aidan Berry (San Antonio, Texas) finished eighth with a throw of 11.67 meters (38' 3.5").
