STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Feb. 20, 2026) - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track & field team competed Friday afternoon at the Fastrack Last Chance Invitational at Ocean Breeze. The Mariners put together a strong day with eight top 10 finishes and a new Academy Record in the 60 meter hurdles.

Freshman Gage Holub (Mount Vernon, Iowa) etched his name into the Blue and Gray record books in the men's 60-meter hurdles, setting a new Academy record with a personal-best time of 8.53 and a fifth-place finish. Holub's mark broke an 18-year old record of 8.70 set by James Wade in 2008.
Freshman Mackay Minter (Townsend, Ga.) captured first place in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.22 while classmate Kaiser Ilker (Greenwich, Conn.) added another top-10 finish in the event, placing ninth with a time of 7.51. Senior Luke Zwiesler (Colbert, Wash.) posted two top 10 finishes on the afternoon, crossing the tape in fifth with a time of 4:19.73 in the men's mile and a ninth-place finish in the men's 3,000 meters with a time of 8:41.35.
Senior Silas Glynn (Folsom, Calif.) delivered a strong showing with a second-place finish in 2:34.20 in the men's 1,000 meter run.
Sophomore Garrett Rees (Rising Sun, Md.) produced a pair of top-10 finishes for the Mariners, finishing fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.83m (48' 8") and eighth in the shot put with a throw of 12.31m (40' 4.75").
Merchant Marine suits again tomorrow at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the West Point Tune-Up hosted by Army at Gillis Field House.
