Mariners Register Three Top 10 Finishes and Eight PRs at West Point Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 10, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track & field team competed Saturday morning at the West Point Invitational hosted by Army at the Gillis Field House. The Mariners turned in a strong slate of performances, highlighted by three top 10 finishes and eight personal bests, including four athletes posting multiple PRs at the meet.

Senior Luke Zwiesler (Colbert, Wash.) led the Blue and Gray with a third-place finish and a personal-best time of 2:37.89 in the Men's 1000 meters. Freshman Arjun Suresh (Plainsboro, N.J.) followed with a seventh-place finish and a personal best of 2:45.49, while senior Elijah Ramthun (Bozrah, Conn.) placed eighth in 2:49.22. Freshman Caden Davis (Katy, Texas) finished in ninth with a time of 2:51.51, and freshman Cooper Johnson (Honolulu, Hawaii) completed in 11th place with a personal best time of 2:59.04. Freshman Chase Pavlow (Holland, Pa.) rounded out the group in 12th place with a personal best time of 3:04.00.

Zwiesler added his second top 10 finish of the day in the men's mile, crossing the tape in fourth with a time of 4:25.63, and Suresh added his second PR of the day, coming across in 4:43.78. Johnson picked up another personal best in the men's 3,000 meters with a time of 10:28.76.

Sophomore Holden Collier (Mount Vernon, Wash.) placed 10th in the men's 400 meters with a time of 55.92. Freshman Mackay Minter (Townsend, Ga.) posted personal bests in the 60 and 200 meters with times of 7.28 and 23.90, while classmate Scott Ford (Baltimore, Md.) PR'ed in the 200 meters with a time of 24.12.

Ford put forth another strong showing in the long jump, hitting his second personal-best of the meet with a mark of 6.52 m (21' 4.75"). Sophomore Easton Millard (Scottsdale, Ariz.) recorded a personal best of 11.96 meters (39' 3") in the weight throw.

Merchant Marine laces it up again next week at the Ramapo Indoor Opener at the Armory at 9:30 a.m in New York, New York.
