KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 18, 2025) – USMMA freshman
Carolae Barton (Waldorf, Md.) was selected as the Region 3 Rookie of the Year when D3hoops.com announced its regional awards for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday. Additionally, Barton and sophomore
Emily Grasseler (Millbrook, N.Y.) were both chosen to the All-Region 3 First Team.

Barton becomes the second Mariner in program history to be named a D3hoops.com Region Rookie of the Year, as
Lauren Hunter '23 earned the Atlantic Region honor back in 2019.

The freshman forward averaged a double-double with 14.4 points per game and a team-best 13.1 rebounds per game. Her .559 shooting percentage and 54 blocks were also the best on the team, while her 37 steals ranked second on the squad.

Grasseler was the team leader with 15.7 points per game and, like Barton, also averaged a double-double on the season with 10.2 rebounds per game. She shot 43.3% from the field and was 73.9% from the free-throw line.
