KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2026) – Junior
Colin Robertson (Milford, Mich.) scored the game-tying goal with just 15 seconds remaining as the USMMA men's soccer team battled Mount St. Vincent to a 1-1 draw in its Skyline Conference opener Wednesday night at Bartoszek Field. The Mariners moved to 1-2-4 overall (0-0-1 Skyline) with the tie, while the Dolphins went to 2-1-2 (1-0-1 Skyline).

Merchant Marine generated a number of opportunities in the opening half and nearly broke through in the 30th minute when junior
Robert Derwin (East Meadow, N.Y.) sent a header off the crossbar.
Mount St. Vincent responded in the 38th minute as Justin Sorto found the back of the net to give the Dolphins a 1-0 advantage.
The Mariners began to increase the pressure in the second half as Robertson put an attempt on target in the 59th minute, but Dolphins' goalkeeper Miguel Fierro made the save. Freshman
Cameron Westerfield (Houston, Texas) nearly provided the equalizer in the 76th minute, but Fierro turned away his attempt as well to keep the Dolphins in front.
Merchant Marine continued to push over the next several minutes. Derwin sent a header high in the 77th minute before having another attempt blocked in the 79th. Sophomore
Jackson Justice (Winchester, Va.) followed with a header on target later in the 80th minute, and Derwin and senior
Patrick Novotny (Fort Worth, Texas) each forced saves from Fierro moments later.
Robertson continued to apply pressure with another shot on goal in the 82nd minute before Derwin had an attempt turned aside in the 86th. The Mariners finally broke through in the final minute when Derwin set up Robertson, who found the back of the net at 89:45 to even the score at 1-1.
Merchant Marine finished with an 18-9 advantage in shots, including an 8-4 edge in shots on goal, and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Robertson led the Mariners with six shots and three attempts on goal, while Derwin added five shots, two on target and the assist on the equalizer.
Senior keeper
Ethan Howell (Alexandria, Va.) made three saves for the Mariners, while Fierro stopped seven shots for Mount St. Vincent.
Up next, the Mariners will travel to Yonkers, N.Y. this Saturday, Sept. 19, to face Skyline Conference opponent Sarah Lawrence. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Fleming Park.
