Barcus Reaches 200 Career Points In 18-2 Road Win At Mount St. Mary; Mariners Clinch #1 Seed In Skyline Tournament

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 25, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's lacrosse team closed out the 2026 regular season with a 18-2 win up at Mount St. Mary on Saturday. The Mariners improve to 10-5 (6-1 Skyline) with the triumph, while the Knights close out the season with a 4-11 record (2-5 Skyline).

The victory also clinches the #1 seed in the upcoming Skyline Tournament for the Mariners, who finished with the same conference record as Farmingdale State and Maritime, but own the goal differential tiebreaker over those two teams. It's the first time since 2018 that USMMA is the top seed in the conference tourney.

Game Link Senior Owen Barcus (Annapolis, Md.) came into Saturday's contest needing just one point to reach the 200-career point plateau and wasted little time getting it, as he scored the very first goal of the game just 50 seconds into action. The attackman became just the ninth Mariner in program history to record 200 points, and he finished the game with a hat-trick.

Senior William Badeer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore Landon Locke (Midlothian, Va.) both registered five points, as Badeer found the back of the net five times and Locke scored once and dished out four assists. Three other Mariners produced multi-point efforts, as freshman Dylan Sullivan (Warwick, N.Y.) had a goal and two helpers, senior Jack DeTommaso (Massapequa, N.Y.) tickled the twine twice and sophomore Brendan Ring (Philadelphia, Pa.) chipped in with a goal and an assist.

The Mariners won 14-of-23 face-offs, as sophomore Tucker Kuhn (Towson, Md.) led the way going 8-of-11 while also picking up a team-best five ground balls. Senior Jason Rupli (Washington, D.C.) won six draws. Senior Michael Valentine IV (Massapequa Par, N.Y.) led the way defensively with three caused turnovers to go along with four GBs.

Three other players had three ground balls apiece – DeTommaso, junior Ryan Thorne (Selden, N.Y.) and sophomore William Schipfer (Colorado Springs, Colo.). In goal, junior Julian Garcia (Lakeway, Texas) made three saves in the first half. Sophomore Jack Stehlik (Hood River, Ore.) stopped five shots in the third quarter and junior Joseph Montazella (Lyme, Conn.) had two saves in the final quarter.

For MSMC, Luke Dombroski and Tyler Mackay tallied the two goals, while Henry Micyk had one assist. Joseph Corallo won eight face-offs and led all players in the game with seven ground balls, while Dombroski caused a game-high four turnovers.

The Mariners will host the Skyline Tournament Semifinals on Thursday night, April 30, against either #4-seed Manhattanville or #5-seed Mount St. Vincent. Opening faceoff will be at 7 p.m. at Tomb Field.
