KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 28, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's tennis team earned a 7-0 Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's-Long Island on a chilly Saturday afternoon at the Brooks Stadium Courts. The Mariners improved to 3-1 overall (3-0 Skyline), while the Golden Eagles fell to 0-3 (0-2 Skyline).

Merchant Marine secured the doubles point with wins at the top two flights. Freshmen
Keegan Dutton (Temple, Texas) and
Travis Filer (Conroe, Texas) posted a 6-0 victory at #2 to start the day off, before the sophomore pairing of
Fredrich Buquel (Mission, Texas) and
Aaron Zhao (Temple City, Calif.) came out on top at #1, 6-1. The third flight was awarded by forfeit to freshmen
Zach Diep (Oxnard, Calif.) and
Travis Boyd (Phoenix, Ariz.).
In singles action, USMMA controlled play across the lineup. Filer delivered a 6-0, 6-0 win at #5, and Diep followed with a 6-1, 6-1 decision at #4. Buquel clinched the Mariners' victory with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the top flight, while Zhao matched that scoreline at #2. Dutton completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3, and Boyd picked up the point at #6 by forfeit.
The Mariners return to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 29, when they host non-conference opponent Hunter College beginning at 1 p.m. at the Brooks Stadium Courts.
