WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Jan. 17, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team took part in the 2026 New York-Pennsylvania Duals on Saturday, hosted by Wilkes University. The Mariners lost their first two matches to Elizabethtown, 28-12, and the host Colonels, 29-21, but rebounded to win its last matchup against Keystone College, 52-0.

Three Mariners earned two victories apiece, as freshman
Cayden Farver (Manchester, Md.) at 125 earned a first-period pin in the match against Wilkes and won by forfeit against Keystone, classmate
Andrew Huesgen (Shillington, Pa.) at 174 had a technical fall against Elizabethtown and then won by forfeit against the Giants, and junior
Tyler Withers (Gettysburg, Pa.) at 184 also earned a first-period pin against the Colonels and then picked up a tech fall against the Giants.

Also earning extra-point victories on the mats for USMMA were freshman
Aiden Krass (Gonzales, La.) at 149 against the Blue Jays with a major decision, sophomore
Porter Gresko (Sparks, Nev.) at 174 against Wilkes with a pin, freshman
Charles Case (Cream Ridge, N.J.) at 133 against Keystone with a pin, junior
Colin Dragon (Richmond Hill, Ga.) at 149 against the Giants with a pin, freshman
Viviano Gutierrez (La Habra, Calif.) at 165 against Keystone with a tech fall and classmate
Jonathan Harms (Niantic, Conn.) at 285 against the Giants with a pin.

Up next, the Mariners will host Centennial Conference foe Ursinus College on Thursday night, Jan. 22, on Senior Night. Action is set to get underway against the Bears at 7 p.m. inside the Liebertz Gymnasium.
