USMMA Rolls To 3-0 Skyline Victory Over Mount St. Mary

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2025) – The USMMA women's volleyball team earned a straight-set Skyline victory at home over Mount St. Mary on Tuesday night at Liebertz Gym, 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-22). With the win, the Mariners improve to 8-6 (2-0 Skyline), while the Knights drop to 4-10 (1-1 Skyline).
 
Match Links Sophomore Sydney Douglas (Herndon, Va.) led all players with 16 kills while hitting .343, and sophomore Maddie Mayer (Centennial, Colo.) added nine kills on a .353 hitting clip and tied for the team lead with two blocks (one solo). Freshman Carly Soboloski (Peoria, Ariz.) chipped in seven kills and seven digs, while senior Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) collected a team-high nine digs. Freshman Emma Borlie (Baltimore, Md.) paced the offense with 28 assists and added seven digs and a service ace.
 
Set 1 – USMMA 25, MSMC 21: After falling behind 2-0 early, the Mariners surged ahead 7-2 thanks to a 4-0 run capped by a kill from junior Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) and an ace by Borlie. Douglas tallied two late kills to help secure the opening set.
 
Set 2 – USMMA 25, MSMC 15: The Mariners used a 5-0 stretch to erase a 5-2 deficit, sparked by kills from Douglas and Stillinger plus a service ace by Stillinger. USMMA maintained control the rest of the frame and closed it out on a Douglas kill.
 
Set 3 – USMMA 25, MSMC 22: The third set featured 10 ties and six lead changes. With the score knotted at 20-20, USMMA closed on a 5-2 run, highlighted by a key kill from Douglas and the match-clinching point on her 16th kill of the night.
 
The Mariners finished the match with 39 kills on a .192 team hitting percentage, 34 assists, six service aces, 40 digs, and four team blocks.
 
For the Knights, Ava DiScala led the visitors with eight kills and a .615 hitting percentage, Julianna Simone chipped in six kills, and libero Erin Lema tallied a team-high seven digs.
 
USMMA will be back in action on the road this Friday night, Oct. 3, for a Skyline matchup at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
