BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2025) – The USMMA women's volleyball team remained undefeated in Skyline play with a straight-set win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 3–0 (25–16, 25–13, 25–19), on Friday night at The Hill Center. With the victory, the Mariners improve to 9–6 (3–0 Skyline), while the Bears drop to 6–6 (1–1 Skyline).

Sophomore
Sydney Douglas (Herndon, Va.) led the attack with 10 kills, hitting .474, and added eight digs, two aces, and two block assists. Freshman
Carly Soboloski (Peoria, Ariz.) also finished with 10 kills and added three digs. Junior setter
Emma Borlie (Baltimore, Md.) posted 20 assists and nine digs, while senior libero
Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) collected 11 digs and three aces. Sophomore
Maddie Mayer (Centennial, Colo.) supplied three kills, a solo block, and one block assist.
USMMA jumped out early and never trailed after the midpoint of the first set, taking the opener 25-16 behind six kills combined from Douglas and Soboloski. The Mariners' serve-receive pressure proved pivotal in the second frame, as they recorded six aces and limited the Bears to a -.071 hitting percentage in a 25-13 set win. In the third, the visitors used a balanced attack and timely serving to close out the match, 25-19.
The Mariners recorded a total of 14 service aces on the night and held the Bears to just .037 hitting on the night.
For St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, Abigail Encinia led the hosts with six kills and two aces, while Mariana Medrano recorded 10 digs.
Now riding a Skyline conference win, the Mariners return to action on Tuesday night, Oct. 7, when they travel up to arch-rival SUNY Maritime for a Skyline showdown beginning at 7 p.m. at the Privateer' Liebertz Gymnasium.
