PURCHASE, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's soccer team picked up a key Skyline Conference victory Tuesday night on the road, defeating Manhattanville, 2-1. With the win, the Mariners improve to 6-3-2 (3-1-1 Skyline), while the Valiants fall to 4-7-1 (2-1-1 Skyline).

Cal Lutz (Charlotte, N.C.) opened the scoring in the 66th minute when he converted a cross from freshman
Patrick Novotny (Fort Worth, Texas) for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. After Manhattanville equalized just three minutes later, the Mariners reclaimed the lead in the 88th minute thanks to an own goal created by pressure inside the box to secure the road win.

The Mariners return to action this Saturday, Oct. 5, when they host Yeshiva University in Skyline Conference play. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Bartoszek Field.
