(Oct. 5, 2025) – On an unusually hot Sunday afternoon in early October, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's soccer team powered past Yeshiva University, 4-0, in Skyline Conference play at Bartoszek Field. In victory, the Mariners improve to 7-3-2 overall (4-1-1 Skyline), while the Maccabees drop to 1-4-4 (1-2-4 Skyline) with the loss.

Andrew Jung (Fairfax, Va.) scored twice, his third and fourth goals of the season, while also adding an assist. Sophomore
Robert Derwin (East Meadow, N.Y.) and junior
Patrick Novotny (Fort Worth, Texas) each added a goal as the Mariners won their second-straight conference match.

Jung opened the scoring in the eighth minute, when he buried a rebound off a blocked shot by Novotny. Derwin doubled the lead with a header in the 17th minute off a service from senior
Jack Ouellette (Alexandria, Va.).

In the second half, Jung struck again in the 59th minute off an assist from sophomore
Cal Lutz (Charlotte, N.C.), before Novotny capped the day's scoring in the 62nd minute off a rebound from a shot on goal by Jung that found his classmate after a save.

Junior goalkeeper
Ethan Howell (Alexandria, Va.) stopped four shots to earn his fifth clean sheet of the season. USMMA dominated the stat sheet with a 33-13 advantage in shots (16-4 on goal) and an 8-5 edge on corner kicks.

There were seven yellow cards issued on the day, four to the Mariners and three to the Maccabees.

The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, when they travel to Mount Saint Mary for another Skyline matchup. Kickoff in Newburgh, N.Y., is slated for 6 p.m.
