KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 20, 2025) - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer team earned a dominant 5-0 victory over Skyline opponent Purchase College on Saturday afternoon in their annual 142 game at Bartoszek Field. The Mariners improve to 3-3-1 (3-0-0 Skyline) while the Panthers fall to 2-3-0 (1-1-0 Skyline).

The Blue and Gray dominated from the opening whistle, with senior Morgan Mitchell (Amory, Miss.) opening the scoring in the third minute for a 1-0 lead. Freshman Kennedy Crovo (Lexington, Ky.) added to the Merchant Marine lead with two goals in quick succession, twinkling the twine in the 18th minute on a feed from senior Sarah Welsch (Broomfield, Colo.) to make it 2-0 and putting home a rebound off a shot from sophomore Lauren Enterline (Harrisburg, Pa.) to stretch the advantage to 3-0.
Welsch found the back of the net in the 38th minute to push the lead to 4-0 going into the halftime break.
Freshman Angelee Crooks (Tucson, Ariz.) completed the goal scoring for the Mariners on the afternoon, putting home a loose rebound in the 74th minute off a senior Sammy Bumann (Castle Rock, Colo.) blast from outside the 18 for a final 5-0 victory.
USMMA outshot Purchase 44-4 and held an 11-1 corner kick advantage.
Freshman Charli Warren (Atlanta, Ga.) made two saves, and sophomore Eva Fields (Williamsburg, Va.) made one in the match.
Merchant Marine returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. against Skyline Conference opponent Mt. St. Vincent at Bartoszek Field.
