PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2025) – The USMMA women's soccer team picked up its first road victory of the season on Wednesday night with a 1-0 Skyline Conference win at St. Joseph's-Long Island. The Mariners improve to 2-3-1 (2-0 Skyline), while the Golden Eagles drop to 2-2-1 (0-1 Skyline).

Morgan Mitchell (Amory, Miss.) scored the game-winner in the 87th minute, finishing a pass from freshman
Sakura Lopez (San Diego, Calif.) to break the scoreless tie. The goal was Mitchell's fourth of the season and first game-winning tally.
Sophomore
Eva Fields (Williamsburg, Va.) earned her second-straight shutout with four saves in net, and the defensive line helped keep St. Joe's off the scoreboard despite six total shots.
The Mariners finished with eight shots, five on goal, while the hosts registered six shots, four on target. Both keepers, Fields and SJU's Kristin Vahle, ended the night with four saves.
Up next, Merchant Marine will return home to host Purchase on Saturday, Sept. 20, at noon at Bartoszek Field.
