Women's Soccer Plays To 0-0 Draw Against Coast Guard

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 13, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer team tied rival Coast Guard 0-0 on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium. The Mariners' record moves to 1-3-1 while the Bears sit at 1-4-1.

Game Link Sophomore Eva Fields (Williamsburg, Va.) had her second straight clean sheet, making one save in the contest.

Junior Ainsley Carlon (Gilbert, Ariz.) led the Blue and Gray with a game-high five shots. Sophomore Sarah Welsch (Broomfield, Colo.) contributed four, and senior Marina Ronzoni (Riverhead, N.Y.) had two.

Coast Guard generated early chances in the first half. Mia Forti hit the crossbar in the 7th minute and almost broke through in the 11th minute, but senior defender Emma Cox (Huntingtown, Md.) denied her on the goal line to keep the match scoreless.

Merchant Marine came out stronger in the second half. Carlon had the Mariners' first opportunity, but Emma Acker denied her right-footed blast from 20 yards out in the 66th minute, then Welsh sent a low shot just wide of the left post in the 70th minute. The Bears almost took the lead on their best chance of the second half in the 79th minute.

Ellie Millner battled through traffic in the goal box and fired a shot towards the right corner of the net, but sophomore Jayme Santasiero (Houston, Texas) sent it away on a goal-line stop to hold the match level. Ronzoni had the final opportunity for the Mariners, but couldn't convert as her blast through traffic just sailed over the crossbar in the 86th minute, and the clock ran out, ending the match in a 0-0 draw.

Up next, the Mariners head on the road in Skyline Conference action against St. Joseph's-Long Island on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. in Patchogue, N.Y.
