KINGS POINT, N.Y. (July 22, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Athletic Department and the USMMA Alumni Association & Foundation (AAF) have announced the selections for the newest class to be inducted into the USMMA Athletics Hall of Fame.
 
Seven individuals will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame area inside O'Hara Hall along with the 161 who have already been honored. That will bring the new total to 168 individual inductees and six teams of distinction.
 
The following five alumni, one long-time coach and one long-time physical therapist will be inducted into the USMMA Athletic Hall of Fame in October: 

• Derrick Shirley '87 (Men's Basketball)
• Wayne Allen '00 (Men's Track & Field)
• Geoffrey Troy '09 (Football)
• Rebecca (Grimes) Link '11 (Women's Basketball)
• Jordan Alfaro '12 (Wrestling)
• Tom Gill (Men's Lacrosse Coach)
• John Cavanaugh (Team Physical Therapist)

The AAF and Athletic Department would like to congratulate all of this year's inductees into the USMMA Athletic Hall of Fame. The Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held during 2025 Homecoming and Hall of Fame Weekend at Kings Point on Friday, Oct. 10, at the beautiful Mariner Estate nearby.
