Strong First Half Propels Mariners To 13-4 Road Win At Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. (April 15, 2025) – The USMMA men's lacrosse team made it back-to-back wins, defeating Manhattanville 13-4 on the road in Skyline action on Tuesday evening. Kings Point improves to 7-5 (4-1 Skyline) with the victory, while the Valiants drop to 3-10 (2-2 Skyline) with the loss.

Game Link Four Mariners put up multi-goal games on the night. Junior Owen Barcus (Annapolis, Md.) and freshman Landon Locke (Midlothian, Va.) both recorded hat tricks. Senior Jack Collins (Memphis, Tenn.) led the Blue and Gray with a game-high six points and four assists to go along with two goals, while Barcus also added five points and two assists.
 
Sophomore Brendan Ring (Philadelphia, Pa.) also netted a pair of goals on the night.
 
Senior Chris Neuman (South Huntington, N.Y.) went 7-for-13 on face-offs for Merchant Marine, while sophomore Owen Behr (Vestavia Hills, Ala) gobbled up a game-high eight groundballs. KP was 21-25 on clears and caused 10 turnovers on the night, with freshman William Schipfer (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Ryan Thorne (Selden, N.Y.), and Jake Rossman (Apple Valley, Minn.) forcing a team-high two apiece.
 
In the net for the Mariners, sophomore goalie Julian Garcia (Lakeway, Texas) picked up the victory, stopping 10 shots.
 
Michael Swift led the Valiants with two goals and a game-high 12 shots in the contest, while goalie Joe Ulzheimer had a game-best 15 saves.
 
USMMA opened up a 5-0 lead after one quarter and scored seven unanswered goals before Manhattanville finally got on the scoreboard at the 9:07 mark of the second quarter to make it 7-1. Kings Point put it away after that with a 4-0 run capped off by a Collins goal with 2:10 remaining to lead 11-1 at the halfway point. The Mariners would cruise the entire second half en route to a 13-4 win.

Merchant Marine returns home next Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. to face Skyline foe Mount St. Vincent.
