BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2024) – Three players tallied two-goal games as the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Skyline play and extended its overall unbeaten streak to nine games with a 7-0 victory at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday night. USMMA improved to 7-1-3 (6-0-1 Skyline), while St. Joseph's-Brooklyn dropped to 1-9-0 (1-6-0 Skyline).

Lillia Miller (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) and junior
Morgan Mitchell (Amory, Miss.) had two goals each to pace the Mariners. Senior
Natalie Colpoys (Rochester, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist.
The Mariners tallied what proved to be the game winner in just the second minute as a pass from freshman
Lauren Enterline (Harrisburg, Pa.) found Mitchell, who beat the keeper for a quick 1-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later, Forman made it a 2-0 game when she took a pass from junior
Sammy Bumann (Castle Rock, Colo.) and found the back of the net.
Forman tallied her second goal of the game to make it 3-0 in the 9th minute. A cross from Enterline deep in the right corner was deflected by a defender and found the foot of Forman, who one-timed a low blast into the center of the net.
After the ensuing restart, the Mariners capitalized on a turnover near midfield and made it 4-0 just 17 seconds later. Sophomore
Ainsley Carlon (Gilbert, Ariz.) placed a perfect lead pass into the box for Colpoys, who took one touch before chipping the ball past the keeper.
Mitchell added her second goal of the game in the 13th minute. Colpoys had a shot saved, but the goalkeeper allowed a rebound and Mitchell knocked it home at the right post for a 5-0 advantage.
A Bumann free kick from 30-yards out near the right sideline set up the next goal as the Mariners went up 6-0 in the 39th minute. The kick was sent in towards the penalty spot and freshman
Sarah Welsch (Broomfield, Colo.) headed the ball towards the far post for Miller, who finished with a one-timer.
USMMA tacked on more goal in the 58th minute as crossing pass from sophomore
Katie Howe (Red Wing, Minn.) led to a one-timer from Miller that made it a 7-0 game.
In net, senior
Margaret Ripperger (McKinney, Texas) started the first 25 minutes and didn't face a shot on goal. She was relieved by sophomore
Rachael Godfrey (Robbinsville, N.J.), who made two saves in just over 65 minutes of action.
The Mariners travel to Farmingdale State this Saturday, Oct. 12, for a crucial Skyline matchup between two undefeated teams. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Rams Field.
