FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (April 8, 2023) - The USMMA women's lacrosse team earned its fifth-straight victory with a 19-1 road win over Old Westbury early Saturday morning. The triumph improved the Mariners' record to 7-1 (3-0 Skyline), while the Panthers fall to 2-3 (1-1 Skyline) in defeat.

Game Link Senior Jenna Turrentine (Kennesaw, Ga.) led the way on the scoresheet with five points on three goals and two assists, while two other Mariners had four-point days - senior Julia Coughlin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) with two tallies and two helpers and sophomore Lauren Jablonowski (Levittown, N.Y.), who found the back of the net four times. Junior Kaitlyn Latchaw (Phoenix, Md.) and freshman Samantha Atwood (Woods Cross, Utah) both had three points with two goals and one assist each, while senior Phoebe Cho (Fairfax, Va.), sophomore Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.) and freshman Nicole Nagengast (Seaford, N.Y.) all scored once and dished out one assist. For Nagengast, it was her first career goal.

Defensively, senior Meghan Malone (Crofton, Md.) caused three turnovers to go along with four groundballs, while also chipping in with a goal, and Nagengast caused two TOs and scooped up three GBs. Senior Jaqui Sheedy (Baltimore, Md.) led all players with 15 draw controls and six groundballs and added two assists on the morning. In goal, freshman Amber Heverly (Arnold, Md.) made one save in three quarters to earn the victory. She was replaced by classmate Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) in the fourth quarter, who made her first two collegiate saves.

Up next, the Mariners travel out to Patchogue, N.Y., in Suffolk County on Wednesday, April 12, for a 5 p.m. Skyline showdown with St. Joseph's-Long Island. Live links for the game are available on the USMMA Women's Lacrosse Schedule Page.
