Latchaw Notches 100th Point as Ladies Roll To Sixth Straight Win Over SJLI

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (April 12, 2023) – The United States Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team won its sixth straight contest on Wednesday evening, 18-10, and also saw junior Kaitlyn Latchaw (Phoenix, Md.) secure point number 100 for her career in Kings Point, scoring four points to reach the milestone after coming into the day sitting on 96.

The Blue and Gray were plus-four in the turnover department (22-18) and plus-one for ground balls (18-17) on top of converting 2.2% more clears.
 
Latchaw scored a pair of goals and dished out two assists to reach triple-digits, joining senior Jenna Turrentine (Kennesaw, Ga.) who got there against Salve Regina on March 25.
 
Lauren Jablonowski (Levittown, N.Y.) was the contest's top scorer in all facets, putting together seven points on four goals plus three assists with all five of her shot attempts landing on-target. She also scored from the free-position, caused a turnover, and gained a ground ball.
 
Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) played well in her first collegiate start in goal, going the distance while making eight saves in the face of 22 shots to pick up her second victory of the year.
 
Jaqui Sheedy (Baltimore, Md.) finished second behind Jablonowski in points at a campaign-best five (three goals, two assists), sporting game-highs for draw controls (11), turnovers caused (4), and grounders (4).
 
Julia Coughlin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) also logged five points on the evening with a tied for contest-most three assists plus two scores, Samantha Atwood (Woods Cross, Utah) netted three goals with two via free-position, Turrentine scored twice, and Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.) put two past the keeper to conclude the point producers.
 
USMMA will try to keep its unblemished Skyline record intact on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. when The Academy hosts Mount St. Vincent. Any live links for the game will be posted on the USMMA Women's Lacrosse Schedule Page before the contests.
