(April 4, 2023) – The United States Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team received well-rounded performance from the entire lineup and capitalized on a season-high five of their seven free-position shots (71.4%) in addition to three woman-up scores to run away from the Rams in another 19-5 home win inside Brooks Stadium.

The ladies contributed a stellar plus-eight turnover margin (20-12), won the ground ball war by five (19-14), made successful clears 89.5% of the time (17-for-19) and placed nearly double the amount of shots on-target compared to Farmingdale State.

Jaqui Sheedy was all over the field on the evening, leading all players in shots-on-goal (7), grounders (5), and caused turnovers (4) with a Mariner-best six draw controls. The senior tied her career-high with four goals and set a season-high for shots/SOG at seven.

Samantha Atwood,
Julia Coughlin, and
Gianna Russo all were the game's best scorers at five apiece as they registered five, four, and two goals, respectively.

Atwood in particular thrived in the attacking zone, notching three of her five scores on free-positions, finding the twine in all of her attempts.

Nicole Nagengast split the title for most disruptive defender for the Blue and Gray, forcing a quartet of Rams turnovers on top of scooping up a trio of ground balls.
