MAHWAH, N.J. (April 24, 2023) – The United States Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team has been scorching the back of the nets over its past eight games, scoring at least 18 goals in seven of them including 20-plus in three of its last four, clipping the Roadrunners 23-12 in the non-conference finale.

On top of bombarding the goalie en route to a 2023-most 23 goals, the Mariners also cut its mistakes down to a minimum with a season-low six turnovers. Defensively, Kings Point reduced the home squad to just 16 ground balls, a season-low by an opponent.

It was a well-rounded onslaught by the Blue and Gray as five Mariners recorded five or more points.

Kaitlyn Latchaw (Phoenix, Md.) led the squad with a career-high of eight points and five assists plus a season-best six shots-on-goal.

Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.) notched career-beats in nearly every category including shots (7), SOG (7), points (6), goals (5), and ground balls (4).

Jaqui Sheedy (Baltimore, Md.) poured in six points on top of being a draw control dynamo with 16 wins while Julia Coughlin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) put a half-dozen points in the stat sheet.
