Jablonowski, Turrentine Score Five Goals Each As USMMA Routs Valiants During Inaugural 142 Game

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 1, 2023) – The United States Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team had an explosive offensive day that saw three ladies score five-plus points as the Mariners cruised to victory in their first ever 142 Game, 19-5 over the Valiants of Manhattanville.

The Blue and Gray were thoroughly dominant on Saturday afternoon, netting themselves a plus-13 turnover differential (24-11), getting off ten free-position shots while shutting MC out in that category, doubled them up in the ground ball war (26-13), and was nearly perfect on clear attempts (14-of-15, 93.3%)
 
Lauren Jablonowski was electric for the Mariners, scoring career-highs of eight points and five goals as well as three assists while cashing in on both of her free-position opportunities.
 
Jenna Turrentine was equally impressive, also netting five goals on five shots plus a season-best three draw controls and her third assist of the year.
 
Jaqui Sheedy was a defensive menace according to the Valiants offense, causing a career-most five turnovers, scooping up a season-high seven ground balls, claiming a team-best five draw controls, and even pitching in on the offensive side with a campaign-best three goals.
 
Nicole Nagengast was Sheedy's partner in crime on the day, causing four Manhattanville miscues while grabbing three grounders, both personal-bests.
 
Samantha Atwood joined her fellow position players in having a game to remember, setting benchmarks for points (5), ground balls (4), assists (2), and caused turnovers (2).
 
Amber Heverly secured seven saves against five goals allowed (.583 save percentage), securing her fifth win of the year and her fifth contest with a save percentage at or above .500.
 
USMMA turns its attention to the Farmingdale State Rams on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they invade Kings Point as the women go for 2-0 in Skyline competition.
