MILLINGTON, Tenn. (March 17, 2023) – Junior Tyler Reistetter (Dickinson, Texas) launched a three-run home run as part of a six-run fourth inning and the USMMA baseball team cruised past Ripon, 12-3. Six Mariners registered multi-hit games as part of a season-high 16-hit attack.
 
Reistetter finished 2-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored, while senior Jared Chambers (Houston, Texas) went 2-for-4 with three RBI to help lead USMMA (5-4). Senior Joey Zanetti (Richmond, Va.) was 3-for-6 with two RBI and sophomore Jack Millen (Shelby, N.C.) scored three runs as part of a 3-for-5 effort. Sophomore Jacob Syversen (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) tossed 6.0 innings of three-run ball to earn the victory. The righty (2-1) combined with three relievers to keep Ripon (4-6) scoreless over the final six innings.

A leadoff walk helped Ripon grab a 1-0 lead in the first, but USMMA leveled the score with a run in the third. After sophomore Derek Vanasse (Camarillo, Calif.) reached on an error to lead off the inning, Zanetti singled and a sacrifice bunt set up runners on second and third. Reistetter followed with an RBI groundout as the Mariners made it a 1-1 game.
 
Ripon answered immediately in the bottom of the inning as three-consecutive one-out singles put the Red Hawks back on top by a 3-1 margin.
 
USMMA, however, sent 11 men to the plate as part of a decisive six-run fourth inning. Zanetti had a two-run single and Reistetter delivered the exclamation mark with a three-run blast to right center that put the Mariners up, 7-3.
 
After plating a run in the sixth on a two-out RBI single by Chambers, the Mariners tacked on a pair in the eighth as RBI singles by sophomore Travis Leatherwood (Catonsville, Md.) and classmate Garrett Clapsaddle (Murphy, N.C.) made it 10-3.
 
The offense wasn't done, however, as Chambers added a two-out, two-run single in the ninth for the final 12-3 margin.
