PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (March 16, 2023) – The United States Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team overcame adversity following its first loss of the season, dropping a dozen goals on Framingham State over the final 30 minutes of action to get itself back into the win column, 17-12.

The Mariners edged the Rams by two in both the ground balls (30-28) and draw control wins (17-15), had the same amount of clears (21-of-25) and free position shots (6-6), and doubled up FSU in the save department (18-9).

Amber Heverly was on the receiving ends of all the saves during her complete game effort, besting her previous season-high for saves by a healthy margin which used to be 11 and upping her best for ground balls by 125% by grabbing a dozen.

Kaitlyn Latchaw hit the lucky number seven with her contest-most point total, leading all game participants in both goals (4) and assists (3) while being one of four ladies to cause two Rams turnovers.Â

Jaqui Sheedy picked up a quartet of points with a pair of each stat, contributing seven draw controls, six grounders, and two turnovers forced.

Samantha Atwood led all student-athletes on either side with eight draw victories and
Meghan Malone joined her as one of the four to cause multiple Framingham mistakes.

Merchant Marine Academy will play its second-to-last non-conference game of the regular season on Saturday, March 25 with a 3:30 p.m. first draw at Salve Regina in Newport, Rhode Island.
