PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (March 14, 2023) – The United States Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team received a stellar all-around performance from midfielder
Jaqui Sheedy (Baltimore, Md.), but Connecticut College benefitted from eight consecutive scores to begin the game as the Camels handed the ladies their first loss of the campaign, 16-6.

USMMA held the advantage in draw controls (15-11), free-position shots (7), and logged a plus-three turnover margin (17-20) yet the eight-goal hole was too much to overcome.
Â
Sheedy led the Mariners in three statistical areas on Tuesday evening, corralling six ground balls, creating four Camels turnovers, and scoring two goals while converting on her lone free-position attempt.
Â
Freshman
Samantha Atwood (Woods Cross, Utah) had only one draw control coming into the day but exploded for a dozen against Connecticut College alone to lead all game participants.
Â
Kaitlyn Latchaw (Phoenix, Md.) recorded her third multi-point outing in as many matches with both an assist and a goal.
Â
The women will have the day off on Wednesday to frolick in the Florida sunshine before coming back to the Publix Sports Park to face the Framingham State Rams at 1 p.m. central time.
Â
Any live links for the games down in Florida will be posted onÂ
the USMMA Women's Lacrosse Schedule Page before the contests.
