It was a 1-1 game after one with the Mariners getting out ahead first on Hall's first of the day. The Privateers took a 2-1 lead early in the second before back-to-back tallies by the Plebes Emerick and Collins gave the Mariners the lead once again. SUNY Maritime would go on to score the next six goals before the half, however, including four (two man-down) in the final minute and a half, and the visitors led 8-3 at the break.
That late push gave the Privateers the momentum they needed to secure the victory, as the Mariners didn't get within five the rest of the afternoon.
For the Privateers, freshman Parker Reilly led all players on the afternoon five points on four goals and one assist. Classmate Connor Tomich added three on one tally and two helpers and four other players had two points apiece. Senior Kyle Orton won 6-of-9 faceoffs and was one of three Privateers with a game-high seven groundballs and freshman Michael Monahan made 12 saves to earn the win between the pipes.
The Mariners are back in action on Tuesday night, April 12, at home against another Skyline rival as of late, Farmingdale State. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tomb Field. Live stats and a live video feed of the game will be available with links on
