VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 16, 2022) – Senior
Jessie Wohner (Norfolk, Va.) went into the USMMA women's lacrosse team's Spring Break game on Wednesday at Virginia Wesleyan sitting just two points shy of 100 for her career and quickly had a goal and an assist in the first six minutes, as part of a career-high 10-point night to lead the Mariners to an 18-8 win over the Marlins.

Game Highlights
- Wohner tallied eight goals and dished out two assists on the evening. The eight tallies tied the Academy record which was set by Meredith Willard '19 on two occasions in 2018 and 2019.
- She becomes just the fifth Merchant Marine women's laxer to reach 100 career points – Willard (300), Jessica Reilly '19 (193), Grace McHugh '20 (131) and Maura Malone '19 (120).
- The Mariners scored the first five goals of the game and held an 11-4 advantage at halftime before cruising on to the 10-goal victory.
- Sophomore Kaitlyn Latchaw (Phoenix, Md.) had three points (two goals and an assist).
- Four other Mariners recorded two points each – junior Jenna Turrentine (Kennesaw, Ga.) and freshman Morgan Tracy (Cambridge, Md.) with two goals apiece and junior Jaqui Sheedy (Baltimore, Md.) and Julia Coughlin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) each with a goal and an assist.
- Freshmen Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.) and Lauren Jablonowski (Levittown, N.Y.) also found the back of the net for Merchant Marine, while junior Jacqueline Radcliff (Orlando, Fla.) rounded out the point-scorers with an assist.
- Senior Maddie Schmidt (Mechanicsville, Va.) led all players in the game with 10 draw controls and four caused turnovers.
- Turrentine, Sheedy and Wohner all had five groundballs each, which tied for the game-high.
- In net, junior Hope Germanakos (Lynbrook, N.Y.) picked up her second win of the season after making four saves in three quarters. Classmate Jessica Gamsjager (Denton, Texas) secured the victory after making one stop in the fourth quarter.
- For Virginia Wesleyan, sophomore Helen Kennedy-Butler registered a team-best four points (three goals and one assist). Freshman goalie Kirsten Ivory tied the Mariners' trio with five groundballs and junior Natalie Dunn secured six draw controls. Ivory made 13 saves in the losing effort.Â
