KINGS POINT, N.Y. (May 7, 2021) – The #1-seed USMMA baseball team defeated visiting #4-seed SUNY Maritime College, 9-2, in the first game of the Skyline Conference double-elimination tournament on Friday, hosted by the Mariners at Bartoszek Field. The win moves Merchant Marine along into the winners' bracket of the tournament, as they will play the first game on Saturday against the winner of the #2 Old Westbury vs. #3 St. Joseph's-L.I. game currently underway.
 
Senior Joe Raab (Edwardsburg, Mich.) got the win, his fifth of the season, as he lasted five innings, allowing just one run on five hits with eight strikeouts. At the plate, senior Jack McCann (Newark, Del.) knocked in a team-best three runs on a bases-loaded triple in the third inning that made it 8-0 at the time. Sophomore Joey Zanetti (Richmond, Va.) had the Mariners' other extra-base hit, as he had a double and knocked in two runs.
