BRONX, N.Y. (Dec. 12, 2021) – In its second game at Mount St. Vincent's Sharp Center Gym this week, the USMMA women's basketball team secured another Skyline victory over Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon, winning by the score of 73-40. The Mariners improve to 7-1 (6-1 Skyline) with the W, while the Maccabees fall to 4-7 (3-7 Skyline).
Merchant Marine never trailed over the 40 minutes of action, and they built up an eight-point lead in the first 4:30 of the opening quarter. The advantage hit double-digits just under two minutes later and never fell back under 10 the remainder of the afternoon.
The Mariners shot at a 40.6% clip on the day (28-for-69), while holding the Macs to 26.1% shooting (12-for-46). The visitors also out-rebounded Yeshiva, 56-26.
Freshman
Grace Jackson (Parma, Idaho) scored 31 points (on 13-of-19 shooting) to lead all players and also brought down a game-high 16 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. USMMA also got nine points from freshman
Abby Stramski (Jones, Okla.) and eight from senior
Madison Reddick (Baker, Mont.).
For the Maccabees, sophomore Shai Rahamim scored a team-best 14 points and junior Daniella Rothman led the team with nine rebounds, while classmate Yuval Nitzan had a game-high four steals on the day.
The Mariners will close out their four-game road-trip with a non-conference game at Lehman College on Tuesday night, Dec. 14. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Lightning's APEX Gym. Live stats and a live video feed of the game will be available with links on
