In March 2022, Will Razzano joined the USMMA Athletics staff as an assistant cross country/track & field coach under head coach Kayla Koelbel. Since his arrival, he helped lead the programs to a combined four Skyline Championships (men's and women's cross country in 2023 and men’s outdoor in 2022 and 2023). Razzano also helped mentor Kira Porzio ’23 to the NCAA National Championship Meet for the high jump three times, as she became the first female individual to qualify for nationals from the Academy since the 1990’s and won the Academy's first NCAA Individual National Championship since 2011 during the 2023 outdoor season.
“I am thrilled to have Will joining the staff here at USMMA!” exclaimed Koelbel. “His knowledge of, and passion for our sport, and his extensive experience with other Division III Track and Field/Cross Country programs across the nation will only benefit our team of dedicated midshipmen. With the growth of our staff, we are prepared to take USMMA XCTF to the next level in the classroom and on the track.”
Razzano comes to Kings Point after spending the previous year at St. Olaf College, where he led the Oles’ hurdlers, horizontal jumpers and sprinters. He coached the school record-holder in the men's 60m hurdles, the men's indoor heptathlon, and four top-10 60m hurdle times, All-American Steve Peper in the men's HJ, Lucas Kramarzcuk finished 21st in the 110m Hurdles.
During the 2019-20 season, Razzano served as an assistant coach at Fredonia State, where he was placed in charge of sprints, jumps, hurdles and multi-events. In his four seasons as an assistant coach at Fredonia State and Utica College, Razzano has coached three All-Americans, 12 conference championships, and has been part of two team conference championships.
At Fredonia State, Razzano coached the men’s 4x400-meter relay that moved to No. 4 on the program’s all-time indoor list, as well as the runner-up in the women’s triple jump at the 2020 SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships who also moved into second on Fredonia State’s women’s indoor list.
Prior to joining the Fredonia State coaching staff, Razzano spent three seasons as an assistant men’s track & field coach at Utica College from 2016-19, where he coached the horizontal jumps. At Utica, he coached three All-Americans, six individual Empire 8 Conference champions, and numerous national qualifiers. During Razzano’s time, Utica won two Empire 8 team titles, set four school records, and finished 15th at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
A 2012 graduate of SUNY Cortland, Razzano was a two-time SUNYAC champion in the triple jump and was a national qualifier in the event as a senior. He finished in the top 16 in the country in the triple jump a combined five times and was the 2012 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year.
Razzano, who also spent three years as an assistant track & field coach and one year as the head cross country coach at Riverhead High School prior to his time at Utica, has USA Track & Field (USATF) level 1 certification.
