Peter Scianna enters his second season as an assistant baseball coach for the program in 2021-22.  He is a former NCAA Division II baseball coach at Queens College, and played collegiately as a student-athlete for Dowling College (N.Y.) and Caldwell University (N.J.).

During his four-year playing career in college as a second baseman, Scianna experienced the highs of NCAA success as his Dowling College team reached the Division II College World Series in 2009.  Scianna was a freshman on that team, and his Golden Lions squad won their first ever Northeast Regional title advancing to the Division II College World Series at the USA Olympic Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.  The team would lose to eventual national champion, Lynn University, in the eight team, round robin format to culminate the most successful campaign in Dowling College history.

Scianna transferred to Caldwell University after his sophomore year, and in his first season with the Cougars in 2012 the team made the quarterfinal round of the CACC playoffs.

Upon graduating from Caldwell University, with a degree in Communication Arts, Scianna relocated to Chicago for a lengthy stint as coach and general manager of Diamond Instincts Baseball Academy in Northbrook, Ill.  There he coordinated day-to-day operations and assumed a lead role as one of the head coaches for the organization’s elite Diamond Dawgz fall and summer travel teams.  He also served as lead hitting and infield instructor during his time there.

Returning to New York to earn his master’s degree from St. John’s University in sports management and professional studies, Scianna joined the Queens College coaching staff for the 2015 and 2016 baseball campaigns as a full-time assistant infield, first base and hitting coach.

Specializing in middle-infield from his experience as a collegiate scholarship athlete, Scianna has been an integral part of training and development programs during his coaching tenure, while also serving as a hitting instructor and assisting in the recruitment of players all across the country.

Born and raised in Chicago, Ill., Scianna currently resides in Astoria, N.Y.
