BETHPAGE, N.Y. (Sept. 4, 2026) - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's cross country team opened the 2026 season with a strong effort Friday afternoon at the Adelphi Panther XC Invite at Bethpage Polo Park. The Mariners finished first among Division III and Skyline Conference teams competing at the meet and 11th out of 17 teams overall in a competitive field of Division I, II, and III programs. USMMA defeated rival SUNY Maritime, the closest DIII and Skyline competitor, by 21 points.

Sophomore Eleanor Romeo (Carson City, Nev.) led the way for the Blue and Gray, crossing the finish line in 26:18.6, while classmate Lili Telvi (Southampton, N.Y.) was right behind with a time of 27:01.8. Sophomore Harmony Taylor (Morgantown, Ky.) crossed the tape with a time of 29:25.5. Junior Karley Rush (Trinity, Fla.) came across the finish line in 31:34.6, and classmate Olivia Campbell (Perry Hall, Md.) finished in 37:49.9.
The Mariners return to competition next Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Purchase College Invitational at 9:30 a.m. in Purchase, N.Y.
