KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2026) – Sophomore Ruby Karls (Lexington, Ky.) recorded a first-half hat trick as the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer team rolled to a 10-0 Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Friday night. The Mariners earned their second-straight victory and second-consecutive shutout to improve to 2-0-4 overall (2-0-2 Skyline), while the Bears fell to 0-5-0 (0-3-0 Skyline).

Karls opened the scoring just 3:30 into the contest before classmate Kennedy Crovo (Lexington, Ky.) doubled the advantage in the 11th minute. Karls added her second goal in the 17th minute off a feed from Crovo, and freshman Hailey Catolico (Apex, N.C.) made it 4-0 less than a minute later following an assist from junior Jayme Santasiero (Houston, Texas).
 
Karls completed the hat trick in the 20th minute before senior Ainsley Carlon (Gilbert, Ariz.) converted a penalty kick in the 25th and sophomore Stella Newman (Columbus, Ohio) added another goal in the 32nd to send USMMA into halftime with a 7-0 advantage.
 
The Mariners added three more goals early in the second half. Senior defender Faith Sammons (Aubrey, Texas) scored her first goal since her plebe season in the 50th minute, junior Lillia Miller (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) followed in the 54th and classmate Caroline Dozier (Southampton, N.J.) capped the scoring in the 58th minute. The contest was later called due to worsening weather conditions.
 
USMMA finished with a 34-0 advantage in shots, including a 21-0 edge in shots on goal, and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Eight different Mariners found the back of the net in the victory.
 
Junior Eva Fields (Williamsburg, Va.) and sophomore Charli Warren (Atlanta, Ga.) combined for the shutout in goal without facing a shot.
 
The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they host Farmingdale State at 7 p.m. at Bartoszek Field.
