KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Aug. 25, 2026) – Forged at sea. Built at Kings Point.
 
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy football team unveiled its special "Forged at Sea" uniforms on Tuesday that the Mariners will wear when they take on arch-rival Coast Guard in the 46th Annual Secretaries' Cup at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Inspired by the sea and the maritime mission at the heart of the Academy, the special uniforms incorporate elements representing Kings Point's identity, its people and the profession its midshipmen are preparing to enter. The design combines the deep navy blue of the high seas with silver accents and maritime imagery throughout the uniform and helmet.
 
The "Forged at Sea" theme is prominently displayed across the back of the jersey and serves as the foundation of the design. It reflects the shared experience of Kings Point midshipmen, whose education and training extend far beyond the Academy grounds and onto vessels around the world.
 
A wave pattern featured on the shoulders draws inspiration from the waters Kings Pointers navigate throughout their training and careers, while the trident serves as a prominent symbol of the Academy's maritime identity. The uniform also incorporates KP and Mariners branding representing the Academy's midshipmen, alumni and worldwide Kings Point community.
 
The silver helmet continues the maritime theme, highlighted by the Mariners' trident and silhouettes of Military Sealift Command vessels. The ship imagery pays tribute to vessels aboard which Kings Point midshipmen train and those they may serve aboard throughout their maritime careers.
 
The uniform also features an America 250 mark as the nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. The tribute carries additional significance for this year's Secretaries' Cup, which will be played in the nation's capital as part of a season-long celebration of America's maritime strength, service and leadership.
 
The special uniforms will make their game debut Nov. 14 when Merchant Marine and Coast Guard meet at Audi Field. The 2026 matchup will mark the 54th all-time meeting between the two federal service academies and the 46th game contested for the Secretaries' Cup trophy.
 
Merchant Marine enters the 2026 rivalry matchup following a dramatic 39-38 victory over Coast Guard in the first neutral-site Secretaries' Cup at Fenway Park in 2025. This year's game continues the rivalry's move onto a national stage, bringing the Secretaries' Cup to Washington, D.C., during America's 250th anniversary celebration.
