Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. (April 9, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's tennis team lost to rival Coast Guard, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon at Gregory Field House. With the defeat, the Mariners drop to 5-2 on the season, while the Bears improve to 2-5 overall.

Coast Guard swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Bears continued that momentum into singles play, winning five of the six flights. Sophomore Fredrich Buquel (Mission, Texas) was the lone Mariner to earn a point, securing a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-6.
Merchant Marine returns to action this Sunday, April 12, for a make-up match against Farmingdale State at 2 p.m. in Farmingdale, N.Y.
