THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 27, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer team defeated rival SUNY Maritime 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field. The Mariners improve to 4-3-2 (4-0-1 Skyline) with the victory, while the Privateers drop to 2-4-0 (1-3-0 Skyline) with the loss.

Merchant Marine opened the scoring in the 13th minute when freshman Kennedy Crovo (Lexington, Ky.) netted her third goal of the season on a left-footed blast from the edge of the box from senior Morgan Mitchell (Amory, Miss.) to give USMMA a 1-0 lead. The Mariners outshot the Privateers 19-4 in the first half.
Mitchell stretched the advantage to 2-0 in the second half, tapping in a long free kick from junior Faith Sammons (Aubrey, Texas) in the 56th minute. Freshman Ruby Karls (Lexington, Ky.) finished off the scoring on the day for the Blue and Gray in the 71st minute, assisted by sophomore Lauren Enterline (Harrisburg, Pa.), to make it 3-0, which the Mariners held for the victory.
USMMA dominated offensively, outshooting SUNY Maritime 43-5, and dominated the corners 11-1.
Sophomore Eva Fields (Williamsburg, Va.) registered her third clean sheet of the season and picked up the victory for USMMA.
The Mariners are back at it when they return home to face Manhattanville on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. at Bartoszek Field in Skyline action.
