KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 29, 2025) – The USMMA women's lacrosse team dominated the Manhattanville Valiants at Tomb Field on Saturday, 20-1, in its first Skyline Conference contest of the season. Merchant Marine is now 4-2 (1-0 Skyline) after the win and the Valiants drop to 2-5 (0-2 Skyline) on the season.

Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.) paced the Mariner offense with five goals, with fellow senior
Lauren Jablonowski (Levittown, N.Y.) and freshman
Lana Hayes (Toms River, N.J.) each adding a hat trick. Jablonowski also dished out a season-high seven assists as part of a career-high 10 point afternoon. Defensively, sophomore
Leslie Wysong (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and freshman
Reese Ripley (Denver, Colo.) scooped up four ground balls apiece. Ripley also led the way with 11 draw controls.

Kings Point got off on the right foot for the conference opener, as Hayes and Russo each scored twice in the first five minutes of the first period. Later, an own goal pushed that lead to 5-0. The Mariners largely controlled throughout the quarter, holding the Valiants without a shot. Merchant Marine closed out the first quarter with five goals in the final five minutes, capped off by Jablonowski's third goal of the frame to make it 11-0 KP after 15 minutes.

Russo tacked on another couple of goals in the second period as Merchant Marine kept the pressure on with five more tallies to take a 16-0 advantage into halftime.

USMMA did not give up control after the intermission, as they continued to hold Manhattanville without a shot through three periods while burying three more goals themselves to make it 19-0. Freshman
Meghan Shippos (Bow, N.H.) tallied her first collegiate goal in that stretch.

Manhattanville managed to avoid the shutout by scoring a goal with five seconds left in the fourth period, as Kings Point rolled to the 20-1 victory.
