The Panthers led, 6-4, at the 7:38 mark before Grasseler scored six points as part of a 12-0 run that gave the Mariners a 16-6 lead with just 2:23 on the clock. Old Westbury added a bucket in the final minute to make it a 16-8 game after one quarter.

After the teams traded baskets to open the second, a Sommers 3-pointer jumpstarted a 15-0 run that put USMMA up, 33-10, with just 55 seconds remaining. The Panthers made just their second field goal of the quarter before sophomore Sydney Brown (Northville, Mich.) buried a 3-pointer in the closing seconds to give the Mariners a 36-12 lead at the break.

Jackson opened the third with a layup and Grasseler followed with six-straight points as an 8-0 spurt put the Mariners up, 44-12, at the 6:37 mark. The Panthers, meanwhile, were kept off the board until a pair of free throws with 5:56 to go. A Sommers 3-pointer and a jumper from senior McKenzie Cassingham (Shasta Lake, Calif.) eventually stretched the lead to 50-16 with 1:56 left. The Panthers were once again held to just two field goals in the quarter and the Mariners took a 50-18 lead into the final frame.
